June: The Beginning of Summer - By Erin Whalen
Since June is all about the start of a new season, it is no surprise that almost all religions have some sort of celebration on or near June 21st. The holidays range from the Christian celebration of John the Baptist’s birth on June 24th to the old Swedish custom of decorating a tree that the entire town would dance around during their midsummer celebration. As you enjoy this time of the first harvest, take the time to prepare for your own spiritual harvest. Think about what you want to happen in your life and write down two or three things. Create affirmations for yourself for each item and repeat your affirmations each morning as you look in the mirror. For example, "I have enough energy to exercise and get fit. I am able to save for retirement." Bury your affirmations in your garden during the solstice and declare that you will make decisions that help you manifest your desires.
